I thought that I’d take a few minutes to answer a few questions that I get on a regular basis when I am selling at vendor events.
By far the most common question is “What kind of printer do you have?”. I just kind of smile because it’s a legitimate question, but I haven’t had “one printer” for more than two years. My weapon of choice is the Bambu Lap P1S. It is simply a workhorse that produces amazing results. I will soon be upgrading to the P2S whenever they decide to release it in the U.S.
Probably the second most asked question I get asked is “How do you come up with your designs?” The answer is normally, “I don’t”. God has blessed me with a great many gifts and talents, but artistic ability isn’t one of them. 99% of the things I sell are made by incredibly talented artists that offer a commercial license to sell their designs. Some of my favorite designers but certainly not all are LEHA designs (pint pals), Dan Sopa of FlexiFactory (skeleton everything), and Cinderwing (dragons galore).
I do often get asked a lot if I can “make something like this or that?”. The answer is a resounding SCHMAYBE! Some things like logos of teams are trademarked or copywritten so I tend to steer clear of those because I don’t want a letter from the University of XXXXXX sending me a cease and desist letter lol. If it’s just a matter of changing the colors to something else than I am normally happy to do that. I can customize things in other ways like adding text to items with just a little bit of extra work so I’ll usually do that if you ask and are willing to pay a couple of extra bucks.
Probably the last question that I get asked on a fairly regular basis is what filament I use. Unless you are a close friend I don’t normally answer this question. At the moment I am happy with my filament suppliers. They offer the rich colors that I need and are of the highest consistency and quality. I will never sacrifice quality for cost savings. I will say that most of them are not available on Amazon. Sorry to disappoint you if that was the one question you wanted answered, but I have to keep some things as a trade secret.
